FAQs

What is the A1 Conference?

The All-in-One Conference (A1 Conference) is an opportunity for theatre professionals to take workshops and seminars, network with peers, industry professionals, and creatives, and access an abundance of opportunities and resources all in one weekend.

When is the deadline to apply?

All applications to attend the Conference are due by December 1, 2025. Applications for the 2025 A1 Conference are now closed. Applications for the 2026 Conference will be open in August 2025.

What happens if COVID cases spike?

Safety is our top priority. We follow CDC guidelines and will proceed with the event as long as airlines are continuing to fly. The A1 Conference will hold events in multiple rooms if capacity restrictions are put into place. Actors may also elect to change to virtual participation if desired.

I didn't get selected to audition; is it still worth it to attend the A1 conference?

Absolutely! The A1 Conference is so much more than the audition/interview portion. We offer dozens of workshops, seminars, classes, and networking events with casting directors, regional theaters, directors, choreographers, and talent agents. Participation in the conference also means steep discounts on websites, headshots, reel creation, and much more.

Will I get a refund if I am not picked for an audition or interview slot or if I have to cancel attendance?

Application fees are non refundable. If you are selected for an audition slot for the A1s and are unable to attend, the conference fee is also non refundable.

Where is the A1 Conference held?

Please click here for location and dates.

When will I hear if I have been selected to audition or interview?

We work on a rolling basis. All decisions will be sent via e-mail by January 1st but the majority hear within 2 weeks.

What happens if I miss my pre-screen and don't notify the A1s beforehand?

You will be unable to attend another live pre-screen, you will be required to submit a self tape pre-screen. The application fee is non refundable.

Do I need to be there for the whole conference?

We recommend participants to attend Friday-Monday if possible to get the full experience of classes, workshops and events!

Can I bring my own accompanist?

No. Our accompanists are all highly skilled musicians. You’ll have an opportunity to run your pieces with them prior to your audition.

Should I select the Singer/Dancer or Singer/Actor track?

If you are a dancer, we highly suggest selecting dancer on your application. All dancers sing and dance for companies, but movers only dance if called back after their singing appointment.

Does the A1 Conference offer live prescreening?

Yes! In addition to virtual prescreen submissions, the A1 Conference offers an in-person prescreen in New York City. Additionally, the A1 Conference team travels across the country each year to prescreen students directly on their college campuses (full list available on our application). To prescreen on a college campus, you must be a current and registered student (and in some cases, alumni) of the college you would like to audition at. Alumni must get written permission from their school’s department head and contact info@thea1s.com to confirm participation. To schedule an on-campus prescreen for your school, please email ryan@thea1s.com.
