(2026 Audition Requirements)

Step 1. Choose Your Track!

There are TWO audition rooms: Musical theatre auditions (Room A) and Non-singer acting auditions (Room B).  Choose the best track for you by reviewing our pre-screen requirements below.

Non-Singing Actors

Please slate your name and what monologue(s) you’ll be performing. We’d like to see a one-minute contemporary monologue and a second one-minute monologue. Your second monologue may be classic text or another contemporary piece. Acting pre-screen video should not exceed 2 minutes (1 minute for each monologue).

Musical Theater Singer/Dancers (Dancers)

Please slate your name, do NOT slate what song you’ll be performing. We’d like to see a cut of a contemporary musical theatre or pop/rock song. 16 Bars for a ballad and 32 bars for an uptempo. You will not be penalized for being a couple of measures under or over. Please include a video of you dancing Musical Theatre Jazz. A dance reel is acceptable. Tap, an across-the-floor ballet sequence, and the opening number of A Chorus Line will not be accepted. Each pre-screen video should not exceed 90 seconds (90 seconds for singing, 90 seconds for dancing) and should be uploaded separately according to the application instructions.

Musical Theater Singer/Actors (Movers)

Please slate your name, do NOT slate what songs you’ll be performing. We’d like to see a cut of a contemporary musical theatre song and a second cut of your choosing (pop/rock, contemp MT, legit MT, etc.) 16 Bars for a ballad and 32 bars for an uptempo. You will not be penalized for being a couple of measures under or over. Pre-screen video length should not exceed 90 seconds. If auditioning in multiple categories (MT and Non-Singing Actor), each pre-screen video should not exceed 90 seconds (90 seconds for singing, 2 minutes for acting) and should be uploaded separately according to the application instructions.

Step 2. Record!

Now that you’ve chosen your track, it’s time to create your self tape pre-screen audition videos.

Please make sure you are in good lighting and a solid background. A wall works just fine.

Nothing else should be in the shot except for you. You are the focus, let’s make sure everyone’s attention is on you. Please make sure your audio is clear. You should be in a three-quarter shot for the entirety singing and acting pre-screens. Please shoot your pre-screen in landscape (horizontally). Uploading seperate singing, acting and dancing videos are preferred.

Upload your pre-screen video to Vimeo or YouTube. You may select it as unlisted, but please do not password protect your video.

Step 3. Apply

Once you’ve filmed your self-tape, it’s time to apply! Fill out an application online and make sure to read our instructions fully and carefully. Self-tape pre-screens, headshots and resumes can all be submitted within you application, however, applicants may also opt to submit their video prescreens at a later date. All applicants (virtual and in-person) must submit a non-refundable application fee of $35 via TicketLeap. Applications will not be reviewed until we have received this fee.

Step 4. The Waiting Game

The A1 admits all applicants on a rolling basis. All decisions will be sent via e-mail by January 1st but the majority hear within 2 weeks of submitting their application materials. Applications for A1s 2026 are due December 1, 2025.
